Using One-Way Anchor Text Backlinks

One thing that many internet marketers (or any business that goes online to build business) tend to forget in their campaigns is Anchor Text backlinks. First of all, building backlinks to your website is extremely important, but if you are not doing it correctly, you can really hurt yourself in the long run. Second, when you are building backlinks, you need to make sure that you are using anchor text (text that is relevant to the content on your site). Doing this correctly will not only show the top search engines that your site is important, but it will also show them just what your site is all about and what keywords they should rank your site for (does that make sense???).
So many people will write amazing content to submit to all of the article directories and web 2.0 sites. They will do their keyword research. They will have the proper keyword density in their content. They will write relevant articles that will make people really want to go to their site to continue reading. Bad news is that 75% of these people will then put something in their author bio like this:
“For More Information on how to correctly choose the best wedding planner for your upcoming wedding, click here!
WRONG! Now, when Google is out crawling all of these article directories, it will see the words “click here” and think that that word or phrase is relevant to your website! Really, what the hell does “click here” have to do with your website? Absolutely NOTHING! You are hurting yourself. If someone goes into google to look for a wedding planner, do you really think they are going to type “click here” and hope to find the best wedding planner? What the most common bride to be is going to type into google is: best wedding planner in Dallas, or cheapest wedding planners in the Dallas area or something like that. How about you create a bio box like this:
If you would like to speak to the best wedding planner in Dallas, please contact Kaye at Dallas Platinum Weddings. She can show you what she can do to make your wedding ideas become a dream come true!
Not only does this sound more appealing, but the more articles that you have out there with this type of anchor text, the higher google will rank you for this keyword or phrase. This is how you are going to start building business!

Hey, you caught the right thing, actually their is a certain order of completion under site designing. I mean there is a preference of what to do first and how much time is given to a particular fact. If that order is not followed than only there are the chances to perform such work which is mentioned by “hell” here. Otherwise I don’t think that site designers do not know the importance of anchor texts.

Keywords in anchor text enhance the relevance of the target page pertaining to the keywords used. While the relevance of the page containing the anchor text is also enhanced to some degree because of relevant keywords appearing on that page, the real gainer is the target page URL. Use this knowledge to build the relevance of each page of your site, through optimized anchor text containing important keywords, relevant to the theme of such pages, from other pages of your site.
It is true that when search engines calculate the relevance of a site to a keyword, they consider the number of QUALITY inbound links to that site. So we should not be satisfied with merely getting inbound links, it is the quality of the inbound link that matters.

When building anchor text links you also need to be careful not to over do it. The trick is to make it look natural. Naturally people would not link to you with your keyword.
Seach engines counts the relevancy of a keyword and the number of quality inbound links and thus rates a webpage/website. Its very necessary, not to use the unwanted keyword or phrases to low down your ratings. Anchor text is the right way to get a good PR.

When it is about “anchor text” as already mentioned, it refers to the text that anchors or hosts. Still using the hyper link text like “Click Here” or “E-Mail me” is LOTS OF LAUGHTER.

Depending on the competition ranking highly with search engines for certain keyword phrases will be harder than others.

Some very good answers in here. Backlinks are indeed an important part of any online marketing strategy. I would stay away from link exchanges. They used to be in vogue, but the search engines are beginning to pay less attention and put less value on links gained from an exchange.
Yes, it has been an old technique now! These call for action words can be used on landing pages which looks apt to generate leads! However, I think with many changes in search engines ranking, I think web-masters would have now realized the importance of keywords in hyperlink. Also back-links are mainly considered to evaluate a sites pagerank by SE bots.
Back links are important for SEO because some search engines, especially Google, will give more credit to websites that have a good number of quality back links, and consider those websites more relevant than others in their results pages for a search query.

It’s a good idea to keep in mind that you should vary the anchor text used and avoid over repetition of the same phrase.
Anchor Text is when building links for the purpose of SEO, the single most important part of any link is the actual text that makes up the link. If the Anchor Text is made up from your Keywords that link will carry a lot more weight in the eyes of Google.

I understand that no one knows exactly what google’s algorithm says but certainly ppl should have the benefit of some good trial and error. I think I may be over optimized and google bombing because my homepage has dropped in rankings a bit while I’ve been actively building quality back inks.

This is a very tedious method but if you do this at least 5 times a day on your favorite blogs, you are sure to get some return. It beats writing articles each day and is a lot quicker.

Your are not actually hurting your website but rather not doing anything that improves it. Anyways, how many do you think is the maximum links per day on a certain keyword for a new establish website? So that Google won’t penalize it.
I think I may be over optimized then.

Great post on anchor text. Anchor text is extremely beneficial — especially in article submissions, which you should be doing routinely to generate more traffic back to your site. Just something to know… some sites limit the amount of words that you can put in your anchor text, for example I know that Ezine only allows three words in your anchor text. Just something to keep in mind.

Camille: In my opinion that is no big problem. Having an anchor text that is longer than three words doesn’t make a lot of sense as most people don’t google whole sentences.
