Okay…
If you do any internet marketing at all, there is a good chance that you have had to build a website. When you decide to build a website, there are a lot of things that you will have to research and consider before you even get started.
You have to decide what your site is going to be about. You will have to decided where you will host your site. You will have to decide whether you are going to build a blog or if you are going to go for a more traditional style website. And most importantly, you will have to choose a domain name.
There are some things that you should try to accomplish with your domain name, but there are also some things that you should try to avoid when creating said domain.
I usually start with a little keyword research. I try to find keywords that are getting searched a lot that do not have millions of competitors. I usually like to start out with about ten strong keywords. From here, I usually go to namecheap.com to see if any of these keywords are available with a dot com. Most of the time, you will have to get a little creative, but this is usually pretty fun for me!
Here are some things that I like to try to accomplish:
1. My domain had to do with what the site is about.
2. I try to make it as short as possible while still making sense.
3. I want the domain name to be easy to remember.
4. If a dot com is not available, I move on.
Here are some things that I try to avoid:
1. I avoid hyphens and numbers. If I tell someone my website and then I have to explain that there are hyphens or that it is the word two and not the number two then I will avoid it!
2. I avoid using hard to spell words.
3. Make sure to avoid copyright infringement.
I know that there is a lot more to look for and to avoid. This is just a quick listing to get you started on the right track.
What methods do you use to come up with a domain name? How much research do you put into this process? Let me know because I am curious to know what methods other are using!
I look forward to hearing what you have to say. Please feel free to comment or re-tweet this to any of your friends that might be having trouble coming up with a new domain name!

Choosing a domain name that visitor can remember on there tips is the most important thing. Thanks for these useful tips.
I agree! If you cant remember it you will never check it out!
Finding a keyword name especially for com’s domain is really hard now. In my opinion I have a little trick using www- in front of the domain name.
Great pointers on how to choose a domain name. Very practical and sensible advice!

Thanks Lyndon!
Good to see you around!
Just curious, what do you mean my that? Do you use (www.wwwrehabfacilities.com)? How is that working for you if you are?
I think it’s also important to note that the TLD does matter if you are targeting a specific geographic location. For example, if you’re starting a business in Australia, a .com.au domain name is the preferred choice over even the .com.
I agree. It also lets people know that you are there specifically for them.
i usually prefer .com but if i dont find .com i go for .org ,also i believe hyphens are better than the complex mixed up names
I do everything possible to get a dot com. I usually try to stay away from hyphens. I will only use them if there is no other way. I guess that I would have to say that I would prefer to have a dot com with hyphens than anything other than a dot com. Make sense???
I usually get the domain name depend on the keyword that I use.
I always do all of the keyword research possible before I try to find a domain. This makes SEO life so much easier if you can get your keyword in your domain. Make it a .com with no dashes and you’ve got yourself a winner!
Really nothing as far as censorship, you simply need to use a Domain Selling site to search if the URL you want is taken. If the individual site has restrictions, they will display them near the search bar that you are using to look for your domain.
i think Although some places allow you to register a name with up to 63 characters, you have to keep in mind that people need to be able to remember it, and easily type it into their browser. Try to register the shortest name that your customers and visitors will associate with your Website.

Being in the SEO industry we usually tell our clients that a good SEO strategy is made up of two things: on-page and off-page optimization. On-page is your titles, descriptions, meta tags and so fourth. Off-page optimization is how many links point to you, social media content, and so on. We can accomplish some incredible results by working in these vital areas. But there is another area that entirely depends upon the client, Its an area that can make any SEO company’s SEO efforts 100 times more effective. Establishing a magnetic brand and have the ability to deliver some killer content! Your brands success depends on it. When you provide your SEO firm with unique, high quality well-branded content to optimize the sky becomes the limit and your competition is left floating in the wind!
As a Florida SEO company we have worked with many different types of companies and have found it very promising for any and all of these companies to have a SEO strategy in place. There are very few people who stick with it long enough to earn the results, people are in general lazy so if you spend the time and effort to do so, you can dominate just about any industry keywords out there. Budget allowing of course

Nice tips. If I start running short on ideas of if a dot com domain name I want for a client is not available, I will sometimes search the available domains for sale to see if it or something similar can be had at a reasonable price.
I wonder if I just buy a domain name for example from yahoo, can I sell the name to the third party??
Very nice tips, for me it kind of takes a while to do research considering the domain name is very important, I’m trying to find a keywords combination usually and I don’t always chose for .com…but .org
